The local government of St. Margarita recently conducted its Budget Forum to discuss financial matters and the allocation of funds for the preparation and submission of the Annual General Fund Budget for Fiscal Year 2024. The forum was led by Mrs. Idalina Panganoron, Municipal Budget Officer, at the SB Session Hall, Legislative Building, LGU Compound, on June 16.

During the forum, participants engaged in discussions regarding various financial expenditures, funding sources, and financial presentations in line with the existing disbursement guidelines. Mrs. Panganoron, an expert in financial management, shared her knowledge with department managers to facilitate smooth fund sourcing for municipal projects and programs within their respective offices, adhering to the appropriate guidelines.

The municipality’s revenue status was also a key topic of discussion, focusing on strategies to enhance its annual income. Collaborative approaches were explored to significantly boost the municipality’s revenue in the current and future years. These strategies aim to allocate more funds to social services provided by frontline offices engaged in public service and to enhance municipal infrastructure.

Mayor Felix Roma Panganoron emphasized the importance of prioritizing projects and programs that align with the guidelines of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Assessment by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). Mrs. Panganoron strongly supported this suggestion, highlighting the significance of achieving the SGLG recognition.

The Budget Forum was attended by Vice-Mayor Erdie de los Santos, SB Members, all department managers, and Mr. George G. Binas, the Municipal Administrator. The active participation and collaboration of all attendees showcased their commitment to effective financial management and the overall development of St. Margarita municipality.
