Sta. Margarita, Samar – A joint inspection of the coastal waters between Sta. Margarita and Calbayog City was conducted on January 17 to clarify jurisdictional boundaries, reinforce maritime law enforcement, and strengthen regulation of maritime activities.
The delineation of coastal boundaries will enhance the municipality’s capacity to enforce laws, particularly those related to fishing. This will also provide clear guidance on who has the authority to discipline violators based on the location of the violation and the origin of the offender.
The inspection also involved preparations for registering the Coast Terminal Point (CTP) with the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA) to establish the boundary between the Municipality of Gandara and the City of Calbayog.
Representatives from the Province of Samar, including Juan Meniano, Provincial Fishery Officer, and Romeo Sultan, Provincial Fishery Agricultural Technologist, participated in the inspection. Representatives from the City of Calbayog, Mark A. Sabido, Fishery Agriculture Technician, and Rex N. Juanillo, Fishery Agriculture Technician, also actively participated, alongside municipal representatives led by Mayor Panganoron.
