The highly anticipated inter-barangay tournament, which has become a significant highlight of this year’s town fiesta celebration, has finally commenced on June 20, 2023, at the newly renovated Municipal Sports Center. The theme for this year’s event is “Bug-os Sta. Margarita: Pagdayaw ngan Pagrayhak.”

With the capacity to accommodate up to 1,160 seats, the Municipal Sports Center will host not only the basketball tournament but also an upcoming inter-municipality volleyball tournament and the Mutya san Sta. Margarita pageant. The center has undergone substantial improvements, including the installation of rubberized maple wood flooring, enhanced ventilation, and lighting.

The official opening of the tournament began with a motorcade that traversed the carline barangays. Following this, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and blessing were held at the Municipal Sports Center. Distinguished guests, including Congressman Stephen James “Jimboy” Tan, Mayor Felix Roma Panganoron, Vice Mayor Erdie de los Santos, and the SB Members, graced the event.

Mayor Panganoron expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support of Governor Ann Tan, Vice-Governor Arnold Tan, and Congressman Stephen James “Jimboy” Tan, acknowledging that without their assistance, the event would not have reached its pinnacle. He also commended and expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Municipal Arts and Culture Office (MACO) led by Mr. Romjer M. Bohol, MACO Officer-in-Charge; the Municipal Engineering Office headed by Engr. Marvin S. Mabutin, Municipal Engineer; the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) under the leadership of Mr. Gheryl Y. Herrera, LYDO Focal Person; Hon. John Patrick L. Caveiro, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President; and all members of the organizing team led by Mr. Jomel C. Pancubila.

Overall, this successful occasion marks the beginning of an exciting tournament and exemplifies the spirit of unity and celebration in the community.
